It takes about an hour and a half to drive from Harare to Guruve, thanks to the tarmac roads making the area easily accessible. Guruve is mainly a farming area, and on a regular day the town is generally quiet with people going about their different business activities.
Sabbath, the 6th of May 2017, we had the privilege to visit Guruve Seventh-day Adventist Church, and in the afternoon proceeded to Mudhindo church to witness the amazing work being done by these people to advance the everlasting gospel. The church has been in existence for some years and on a Sabbath, regular attendance is in the upwards of 30. What is exciting about this church is the general enthusiasm amongst members to reach the community and see their membership grow. Not surprisingly, the church has taken preparations for the upcoming May/June efforts with very much avid interest.
The campaigns, which will be a partnership between Mission Go and Guruve church district, will run for two weeks between 25 May and 10 June, with close to 100 mission workers expected to be in the field. Mudhindo church, which currently meets for worship in a classroom at a local school, has also secured a 2000m2 church stand, with part of the financial assistance coming from Mission Go. The stand was handed over to the church by the local council last Friday, the 5th of May. The church is making 30000 bricks for a worship building they hope to construct on the stand.
It was a very inspirational expedition and quite re-energizing to notice such commitment and dedication to the Lord’s work by such circumstanced people. It all goes to fulfill the Savior’s promise that “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” Matthew 24;14
