Who Shall Overcome?

The Devil is busy deceiving nations and his deceptions are increasing daily, for he knows his time is so short. The good thing is that not all will fall prey to Satan’s sophistry. Not all will join him in rebellion against the loving Lord of Heaven. Some will overcome him. But how? The good thing is the Bible does not leave us to figure it out on our own, Jesus gave it all to John in a vision. Lets see Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” John tells us how in this verse. There are three specific weapons of warfare that will secure the victory for us:

1. “The blood of the Lamb.” When we behold and appreciate the love of Christ revealed at the cross, we are strengthened to resist the devil’s temptations. God’s love is our single greatest need. When we understand and exercise faith in the cross, our hearts are filled with love for Him. And love produces a loyalty and devotion that nothing can destroy see Ro-mans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribula-tion, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that nei-ther death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other crea-ture, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Je-sus our Lord.” And 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto them-selves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.”

“Expression deepens impression.”

2. “The word of their testimony.” Our second source of overcoming power is to bear our personal testimony of God’s love and salvation. Expression deepens impression. The more we share our faith in Christ with others, the more secure and strong we will become in that faith. See Psalm 119:37 “Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in Thy way.”

3. “They loved not their lives unto death.” Our third source of victory over the Devil is to place higher value on God’s honor than on our own lives. If we love God and want to glorify Him more than we fear death, Satan cannot steal our salvation. Even if we lose our lives for our faith, eternity awaits us. Jesus had this to say Revelation 2:10 “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”

Jesus gave the above three at our disposal so that we are overcomers in this world to inherit the world to come. May God bless the mission work ahead of us and may we continue to support the ministry for time is at hand He who comes, comes quickly.
